5 Tips For Cleaning The Closet
Our clothes have been our cheerleader, confidence booster and therapist. They have helped us overcome weight changes, difficult work days, job interviews, dates, marriages, etc. Breaking up is difficult, however, there are many clothes that you no longer wear: that blazer with sharp shoulders from the 80s, those green cowboy boots that you bought on a trip or those perfectly faded jeans? Is not easy.
Here we are going to give you 5 ways to let go.
1. Prepare Your Wardrobe And Your Psyche
Empty your closet and clean every last shelf and dusty corner. Vacuum, dust, and have large trash bags ready, labeled throw away and donate. Now you are ready to reduce your clothes and clean up the clutter for the life and body you have today.
2. Throw Away Anything Past Its Expiration Date
First select this category. Anything stained, worn, stretched, fallen or smelly is a loss. This includes dirty or damaged shirts, old underwear and sleepwear, frayed, torn or fallen sneakers, and dirty flip-flops or sandals.
Most of the items mentioned above do not meet donation standards.

3. Donate What No Longer Serves You
We tend to cling to clothes and accessories. Giving away your things is emotional, so try to ignore obstacles to your donations. Your clothing preferences today are probably very different 10 or 5 years ago. Be guided
by your current size and shape, where you live, and your current style of dress. Think about what you have given up or would like to give up. Maybe you’ve said goodbye to tucked-in blouses and high heels. Maybe now you prefer T-shirts and sweaters to button-down shirts, lighter colors to black. Keep the focus on your real life and your tastes at that moment.
4. Maintain A Basic Wardrobe That You Like And Will Wear
The lines between work, casual and smart attire have blurred. We know that adding a fitted jacket, black leather jacket, or flowy top to your jeans is a modern recipe for 50s style. We’ve learned that skinny pants like leggings, skinny jeans, or skinny pants go best with long, relaxed blouses such as loose sweaters, tunics and asymmetrical blouses. Neutral colors of any shade can be mixed, but they make us look taller and slimmer when worn in a monochromatic look.
Style is personal and only you can decide what your new core of guardians will be.
5. Now Better Organize What Is Left
Hang and organize everything by color. This means all black elements together, all blue elements together, all green or brown. Within each color group there will be a variety of shades, from light to dark, differences between texture and fabric, seasons, solid colors and stripes or super casual and elegant prints. Fold and stack sweaters, knitwear, and T-shirts by color, and organize your shoes by color, too. Now go back and within each color group hang like-to-like items, meaning within the blue group, all your blue jeans together, all your blue shirts together. This system cuts the time finding your clothes and getting dressed in half and gives you more confidence when mixing and matching. You will never say, “I have nothing to wear!” again.
